The Capitol sits atop Capitol Hill and is the meeting place of the US Congress. It is the basis of the city planning and it divides the District into east and west. It has a Neoclassical design with its own reflecting pool. The photo above was taken on a windy day and I couldn’t take a clear reflection on the water.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

DC DSC_0620

I walked towards the obelisk better known as the Washington Monument after watching the sunrise from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. When I looked back, I couldn’t help but take a picture of what I was seeing. This is the photo I took which shows the Lincoln Memorial and its reflection. The reflecting pool on this photo is the same one I used on this post (Photo of the Day – Washington).

Photo of the Day – Washington

The Washington Monument is an obelisk built to honor the first American president, George Washington. This photo was taken from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. I arrived early at the Lincoln Memorial. It was still dark and a bit chilly. When the first few lights appeared on the horizon, I took photos of the beauty in front of me.

Photo of the Day – Lincoln

The Lincoln Memorial is a monument built to honor Abraham Lincoln who is the 16th President of the US. It is located in Washington, DC and it became a symbolic venue during the Civil Rights movement. It has appeared in several movies and you will see it on dollar bills. Aside from this, it is also a perfect place to catch the sunrise in DC. This photo was taken around 5:30 in the morning when the sky is just about to get a bit of light and waiting for the sun to wake up.
