The Obelisk, also known as the Washington Monument, is a four-sided pillar which tapers as it rises with the edges meeting at the topmost tip. It is made up of marble, granite and gneiss and is considered as the world’s tallest stone structure.

Photo of the Day – Washington

The Washington Monument is an obelisk built to honor the first American president, George Washington. This photo was taken from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. I arrived early at the Lincoln Memorial. It was still dark and a bit chilly. When the first few lights appeared on the horizon, I took photos of the beauty in front of me.

Photo of the day – Stop and Enjoy

This photo was taken at Washington, DC as the sun was rising and flashing different shades of pink and yellow on the sky. The guy on the photo was busy taking pictures but suddenly stopped and just enjoyed the view with a smile on his face. Sometimes, we are too obsessed of capturing the moment and the perfect picture that we tend to forget to enjoy the beauty that we see right before our very eyes.
