Photo of the Day – National WWII Memorial

DC DSC_0627

The National World War II Memorial was built to honor those who fought during the war and also for those who supported the fight for peace. It has 56 pillars to represent the US states, territories and the District of Columbia at the time of war. This photo shows the fountain and half of the pillars (the other half behind me).

Photo of the Day – Lincoln

The Lincoln Memorial is a monument built to honor Abraham Lincoln who is the 16th President of the US. It is located in Washington, DC and it became a symbolic venue during the Civil Rights movement. It has appeared in several movies and you will see it on dollar bills. Aside from this, it is also a perfect place to catch the sunrise in DC. This photo was taken around 5:30 in the morning when the sky is just about to get a bit of light and waiting for the sun to wake up.
